The CODERE Foundation has presented the book "The Sports Betting” with the presence of the Secretary of State for Sport, Jaime Lissavetzky, and representatives of the Spanish Autonomous Communities governments, sports and gaming industry experts.

The launch took place during a press event organized at the Madrid stock exchange. The book is sponsored by CODERE Foundation in collaboration with Thomson Reuters Aranzadi. This act is encompassed within the activities of the CODERE Foundation, which goal is to become a space for reflection, debate and research about gambling industry.

The presentation was chaired by Jaime Lissavetzky and was attended by the President of the CODERE Foundation, José Antonio Martinez Sampedro, Enrique Ossorio Crespo, Financial vice advisor of the Community of Madrid; Raul Arroiabe Fernandez, Vice director of Interior of the Basque Country; Luis Maria Cazorla Prieto, Vice president of Thomson Reuters Aranzadi and Alberto Palomar Olmeda, Book Director.

In his speech, José Antonio Martinez Sampedro stressed that the currently legal situation of online gambling in Spain, still unregulated, is very attractive for those betting companies who are not registered in Spain but unfair and unsustainable for the land-based Spanish gaming industry.

He ended his speech with a call to Spanish public administrations, gaming industry representatives and other interested and affected by this situation, to take urgent measures to regulate online gambling as soon as possible.
