EXPOAZAR, S.A. has decided to postpone ELA 20090 for two months. The new dates for the Mexico fair are 23-24 July.
This decision was taken in view of the outbreak of swine flu (H1N1) in Mexico as, unfortunately, this outbreak involves a serious health risk. This Monday (26 April), EXPOAZAR S.A. sent another official statement to all exhibitors, proposing three possible alternatives:
1. Total cancellatio2009-04-28n of the fair.
2. To go ahead with the fair on the initially scheduled days.
3. To change the dates.99% of exhibitors opted for postponement.
The exhibitors, who include the world’s major slot manufacturers, gave three main reasons:
One – personal safety of employees and executives.
Two – the almost total lack of visitors if the fair were held in mid May.
And, finally, the possibility of the Mexican government ordering the closure of all exhibitions scheduled in Mexico, as they have done with other centres of massive influx (theatres, museums, schools, universities, etc.).
This situation could have arisen at any time, even minutes before inauguration of the fair, making it a serious risk and inevitable risk for exhibitors and visitors.
